Introduction
Our website, https://villavilo.com (hereinafter «the website»), is a static site: it runs no program on the server, it has no forms and no user registration, and it uses no first-party cookies of any kind. Nor does it use any advertising or tracking tools; to know how many visits it receives it uses self-hosted, cookieless statistics of its own. In this document we explain what does happen and how you can control it.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small file sent along with the pages of a website that your browser stores on the hard drive of your computer or other device. The stored information can be returned to our servers or to the servers of the relevant third parties on a subsequent visit.
What are scripts?
A script is a piece of program code used to make a website work properly and interactively. This code runs on the server or on your device. This website uses two: a file of our own that opens the menu on mobile and the photo gallery viewer, which is served from our own domain and neither stores nor transmits any information, and the one for our visit statistics, described below.
What is a web beacon?
A web beacon (or pixel tag) is a small, invisible piece of text or image embedded in a website that is used to monitor traffic and store various data about the visitor. This website uses no third-party web beacons: the only traffic measurement is our own statistics tool, described below.
Cookies set by this website
None. We set no technical, preference, statistics, marketing or tracking cookies. Nor do we store anything in your browser’s local storage. That is why we do not show you a cookie consent banner: there is nothing to consent to.
Third-party content and visit statistics
This website loads no content served by third parties. Its pages, stylesheets, fonts, images and script come from our own domain. There are no embedded frames, no external videos, no social media buttons, no Google fonts and no third-party analytics or advertising.
The only thing loaded from another address is our visit statistics: our own installation of Umami, an open-source program, hosted on our statistics server (m.geg.es) rather than by Google or any analytics company. It only counts visits in aggregate: which pages are viewed, which website you came from, the type of browser and device, and the country. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, does not store your IP address, does not follow you across other websites and cannot identify you. That is why it does not require your consent.
The location map shown in the footer of every page and on the Booking page is an image, a screenshot of Google Maps hosted on our own server. Looking at it generates no request to Google. If you click on it, Google Maps opens in a new tab, and only then, and because you chose to, are you on a Google website, subject to the Google privacy policy and its information about cookies.
Managing and deleting cookies
Different browsers offer different ways of blocking and deleting the cookies used by websites. You can change your browser settings to block or delete them. The help documents for the main browsers are listed below:
